NotchUp

So while Siteseeing I figured out that indeed NotchUp is a Drupal site.

Not only is it a Drupal site.. and not only can you import your LinkedIn contacts, but they also seem to be able to parse your profile (hResume) ? Do they have access to the LinkedIn API already ?
I was just hoping the could open up that part of their code :)

And yes.. they have a scaling issue :), so I`m guessing they will be the first to pay me real money to interview with them themselves.

O'Reilly Maker

Lefred pointed us to O'Reilly Maker

This one really is my preferred one

It's sad, but so true.

This Nokia rant makes me wonder where the Mac version is.

Didn't Scott Adams already write this one ?

That's Wally right ? :)

And even the IT Crowd also has it's own manual already.

History

When Tarry mentionned Kevin Lawton , I remembered I had seen hem speak once about Plex.

I however couldn't remember where, I was sure about Germany , tought it was LinuxKongress. I tried to remember over dinner where .. couldn't remember ..

Eventually google figured , it was in Stuttgart at LinuxTag back in 2001.

If only I had known back then what I know now :)

I agree with Reuven

In Virtualization is the Future Reuven Cohen notes:

"Personally I find desktop virtualization another way to force Windows licenses down our throats. I'd rather see a shift away from desktop computing altogether."

Pretty straight to the point .. guess Bart also likes this approach :)

Managing your Resume

Tarry, there are things missing on the current LinkedIn site that you really want in a resume. The main thing that's missing is a skillset .

I used to abuse xmlresume to create my online resume and generate it in different open formats. (Never even tought about making one in that weird format you mention and most of the clueless recruiters want you to use). But nowadays my interest is heading
out too hresume as a Microformat .

Given the fact that LinkedIn now also supports hResume this really sounds like something the rest of the world might want to explore.

However they need to document this more openly as I can't seem to actually see the hResume content using Tails

Where to get Miro

I totally missed out about Democracy being rebranded to Miro , so I ended up downloading the RPM from getmiro.com It totally kept crashing on me ..
while looking at the reasons and if there were updates I noticed the FC7 version at the Miro site being totally outdated when compared to what Fedora itselve already had in it's repository.
guess what .. that version works like a charm ..

Now I only need to figure out a way to integrate Miro with my MythTV box
I`m running an rsync --delete from my laptop where I`m downloading stuff to /var/lib/mythvideo
and I delete videos I've seen on my laptop via the Miro interface.
So far that beats watching video's on my laptop screen.

However .. I actually would like to be able to tag video my videos and have my MythTV box download the content by the time I get home to watch it.

Werner ?

I just overheard

Back in the days T-Mobile required 3 machines to do all their mail on a VMS box. Upon migrating to a product from microsoft they needed 6 long rows of racks totally filled.

So, it's actually Microsoft who is to blame for Global Warming

Please excuse the typo

There is a new signature in town. The ever annoying "Please excuse my typos , mail sent from my blackberry" is now being replaced by "*Sent from my iPhone"

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrr
