UKUUG Spring Conference 2007 , Day 1

After Lunch , I`m skipping the Virtualisation track and taking time for Agile System Admin by Julian Simpson he's talking about using Puppet and CruiseControl to create a stable platform for propagating config. His whole idea is that he wants to test a configuration before he has puppet deploy it.

Fairly short talk with lots of Q&A afterwards..
Interresting question: what do you do with private keys that have to be in version control.

Paul Anderson is now starting his talk about System Configuration in general, with off course some focus on LCFG.
his presentation is already online at http://www.lcfg.org/

While sitting trough the LCFG talk and I was wondering how popular it actually was, found the answer here, my bet is still on Puppet :)

Shut the fuck up, go write some code, is on the T-Shirt from Chia-Liang Kao , his slides on SVK remind me of Saint Peter's slides at Fosdem, only he is going at a slower rate.

This years UKUUG conf seems smaller than last years, at least the conference rooms are lots and lots smaller, but they are filled to the max.
There are only 2 things that annoy me at this conference, the first is the the layout of the building which really sucks, in order to go from one room to another you need to make a hughe detour or wait 10 minutes for the elevator.

The second thing is that the schedule is filled with talks I want to see scheduled next to eachother only to be followed by 2 parallel talks I don't care about :(

Oh and the fact that I have to spend 5 pounds a day on Wifi connectivity.
